J's Chimes: 60,000 Hits!

J's Chimes has gradually taken up pace once again all thanks to your support. Thinking back, this ideal first started when I created a Yahoo Group for rants about anime back in 2006 which didn't really took off until 07/11/07. Had designed a blog and it seriously took many efforts to keep it going till now. If you find something of your passion, you'd do it well and that's how got me on to this day. Once again thank you and keep coming back for more contents in future...

J's Chimes: My Name is Bolo Santosi...

Taken from Mrbrown.com, it seems like the voice acting for this console game titled 'Just Cause 2' was the talk of the season. Somehow or rather, the bad voice acting for a character known as Bolo Santosi sounds so much like a Singaporean's Singlish which strangely appear in a US game. While it maybe a crazy fit, some players are are commenting that this stuff's so bad, it's good. Well... you don't get such weird stuff everyday so might as well enjoy it since it gives out a local flavour and aura to it. Hopefully this is not an April's Fool Joke...

J's Chimes: Highschool Of The Dead To Become Anime

The Tokyo Anime Fair 2010 on the 25 March has unveiled a seemingly exciting manga which will be made into an anime this year. And this is seriously unexpected and am so eagerly waiting for it. Presenting Highschool of the Dead; a manga byDaisuke Sato and Shouji Sato about zombies that invades Japan. With the Left 4 Dead craze and all, this is something many people long awaited and it's simply amazing. If you have read the book I suggest you read it asap at Mangafox.com because its contents are really interesting and what Resident Evil or Deadrising fans would crave for. Well enough talk and watch this amazing trailer for the anime.

J's Chimes: What If Animes Combine?

So far we've seen anime parodies in another anime like Baka Test or Hayate No Gotoku. But have really yet to seen any animes currently that merges a few animes into one. The only thing that does this however that of a card game created by Bushi Road for example Weiss Schwarz. Players can battle with various cards from different animes altogether. Hopefully some anime company started doing this and start a new trend in anime and am pretty sure it will become popular. For example merging Fate Stay Night, Haruhi, Nanoha, Railgun, Koihime Musou, etc altogether. Lol... That would be so cool... Sure like to see Bleach and Naruto battle it out too...

J's Chimes: World Cosplay Summit Reviews

Yesterday was the cosplay competition for the annual World Cosplay Summit in Singapore held at West Coast Plaza and wasn't expecting much due to its shear size of the shopping complex and its location. Can't really say its good nor that its bad but there are some good cosplayers around here and there. And so here are the photos for this event and I must apologize for my lousy camera. Click here and here to view them or simply click on the sidebar located on the right.

J's Chimes: Bleach-ed By Hollywood

With sales of its manga on top charts and anime that runs for years and counting, Bleach is now under the watchful eyes of Hollywood. It won't be an anime this time but a live action series set to come under the screens in 2014 by Warner Brothers. With the epic fails and protesters from the popular series Dragonball which was given the same treatment before, I doubt it will be good and bound to have critics and failure reviews from fans.

One of bleach fans questioned about this new movie: 'Will they stick to the Japanese Style for example the coloured hairs and using back the term Zanpakuto? It'll probably be set in a middle class American town. All the Japanese characters will be played by white people and nobody in the movie will find it strange that a bunch of white kids have Japanese names.'

I lol-ed hard at this because it's so true when you take the previous live action series Dragonball as comparison. And here's a fan-made video for such an occasion... and no, it's not out in 2012 as this is just a parody... But if this is true and looks like this, Bleach is leeched hard once again...

J's Chimes: Fansub Fails

Find this pretty amusing because it made me laugh indefinitely... Well Fansubs for animes are good for people who do not understand Japanese. But on the other hand it could be bad for people because of various misconceptions and such. One such example could be seen as above with some off-topic material in a kid's anime....

Even a kid or you will laugh almost immediately after reading this... And THAT'S a CAR!

Unless you are so bad in counting or just didn't see it right, there are actually 3 cups in total on the table...

This one's for Gundam fans... YOU MADE 3 MISTAKES HERE!

Pew Pew! Pew Pew...! (It's understood-ed)

'<'
If you'd talk cow language, you'd probably know what it says...

wwwww

And what's the best way to remedy such problems? Well what I would say is go learn so Japanese! Once you do, Japanese animes are really fun to watch and you'd get what they mean and even feel the emotions coming out from it. Works well all the time... So next time you'd find another fansub fail, laugh out loud and make your day!

J's Chimes: Ichigo Club Performance

Some wonderful soul nickname KWSW uploaded a short clip on Youtube for last Saturday's Jap Obsession Performance at the Cathay in Orchard Road Singapore. Well the maids in A87 Cafe and bar perform a song and dance on stage followed by many other events herein. Didn't have the time to go because am rushing for assignments. Miyo and Mikan (Blue and Purple costume)took the limelight standing in front of the group with their hyperactive dance.

J's Chimes: Anime Candy

Watched the anime Dance of the Vampire Bund? Seen the girl eating the sweets in a can that she's holding? (Watch episode 3 & 5 for more details...). Well... I stumbled upon the exact same can of sweets selling at the Singapore Institute of Management where the Megabites food court lies. Eaten it before in my younger days and bought it just yesterday to try it once again... and of course since it advertised itself in the Vampire Bund anime...lol. It's unexpectedly nice and has a powder coating to prevent moisture from dampening it I suppose... strangely the shape of the candy is the same and the tin is kinda hard to open too. Another surprise of the day...

J's Chimes: Season Anime Ends

Once again this season animes is drawing to a conclusion and new animes will be airing anytime next week or so. Sometimes it's kinda sad thinking about it because there are many good animes this season from Baka Test to To Aru Kagaku No Railgun. Anyway am still eagerly anticipating the upcoming animes because various good titles are coming up too... Don't want to throw in any spoilers so wait patiently for them to air soon...

J's Chimes: Earl Gray Crave

Ever since I've tried Earl Gray Tea, have immediately fell in love with it... It is in the menu from the A87 Cafe in which my friend celebrate his birthday at... The reason why I wanted Earl Gray to begin with actually comes from this season anime known as Ladies Vs Butlers where the maids and butlers serve Earl Gray to their masters. And so it flashes into my mind and decided to try it somehow... Turn out rather good though... and the teacup is shaped like a heart too... I heard the record for the number of teaspoon of sugar is 11 but don't think am up to the challenge as 2 teaspoon is already kinda sweet for me... Anyway, went in search to buying authentic Earl Gray in the supermarket after that... hope to find something of quality...

J's Chimes: Birthday At A87 Cafe & Bar

Yesterday was my friend's birthday and had decided to celebrate it in a maid theme cafe known as A87 Cafe and Bar. Located in Tanjong Pagar Road in Singapore, this cafe has an anime ring to it too and of course you'd also be greeted by the maids inside as you proceed in. Well, maybe it does look pretty flamboyant on the outside and thus would believe much of the people are pretty much embarrassed about going into the store. Nevertheless, today is a day of first for us all.

The interior is surprisingly nice and gives a pretty much warm feeling for people who'd love anime and stuff... It also does not give you an uneasy feeling unlike visiting other cafes around. The chairs or the tables to the counter has be given very close attention to details.

And here we are seated and began snapping pictures here and there... with pink heart shape cushions and anime stuffs here and there for your viewing pleasure while eating... Of course, a bit of censorship is necessary for anonymity. My friend even grab the maid's panda for a little photo taking too (4 big boys at a maid cafe is a bit ronery... -_-'').

Anyway, it's time for our Birthday Boy to open some presents. Am actually pretty anxious of watching the expressions he would make after opening them up. Because I'd believe he would surely like what he sees as he's a big fan of K-On! He's one lucky guy that day... Presents included a Suzumiya Haruhi Desk Pad, A K-On! glass cup, K-On! issue magazine and folder, K-On! hankerchief and a scale model of Mina from Mahoromatic.

Here's an example of the folder of Mio from K-On! dressed in a maid costume and holding a choco heart. Love this... and manage to find it online too so am printing it out for myself on photo quality glossy paper lol...

And with all the goofing around, our food finally arrives. Ordered curry rice... all of us did except one had decided on a cake instead... He was never full in the end though... realized too that they even pay great attention to the ingredients for example the seaweed is made into star shaped crisps on top of a layer of cheese. Yum!

Upon opening the up scale model, my friend decided to pose it all around the shop for a little photo-taking session of Mina. Here ya see Mina on top of Moetan book and being friendly to Kotonoha and Sekai from School Days...

We also explore the cafe a bit and had decided to look around it's display corner of anime stuffs and err... more stuffs. There's also a studio or some sort with a couple of sofas on the second floor for members to chill. Unfortunately I didn't took much pictures of it though...

The Cafe also have a notice board to display the profiles of the maids and the toys around them... I guess the most prominent one would be Tama the White Tiger since it's in front of the shop. There are many other stuff on display but don't have all the space in my blog post to put them all in...

They even sell badges for a little souvenir for you to take home or pin it up on your shirt to show your loyalty... Anyway, the maids are having a concert today in the evening at Cathay so you might wanna check them out after reading this...

Had a little chat with the maid and a cup of Earl Gray to prepare ourselves for survivor and war with L4D2. A little talk on anime here and there sure lightens up the mood... For your information, the most talked about funny anime would be Baka To Test To Shokanjuu. We laughed like crazy that day.

With a satisfied look on my friend's face, have decided to leave for a gaming session. It's time to part with the cafe. We were thus ushered and greeted off by the ever so happy maid. Fancy a bit of interest in the cafe or the maids? Come visit the A87 Cafe and Bar and experience it yourself. Located at 108 Tanjong Pagar Road, or simply visit their website at www.akibanana.com.

J's Chimes: Cross Days

Remember the Eroge School Days? It's also an Eroge turned Anime which aired quite a ways back. And now the Eroge Company Overflow has launched a new game titled Cross Days in which the settings are in relation to the original School Days. Featuring a new cast and the ever so hated Makoto or Kotonoha, this new game will bring about a new twist to the entire story much similar to Summer Days.

J's Chimes: Browser For Anime

By far the best ever browser for all your internet activities from watching anime to loading pictures and stuff is Firefox. Since it's fast and efficient when opening files, I'd often use it to steam videos and load photographs that sometimes even IE has trouble with and would lag a lot. And now Firefox was even an anime uplit by some anime fan out there. So what browser are you using for all your needs?

J's Chimes: 3D versus 2D

Sometimes upon comparison, 2D always seem to look so much better... (In a perspective of an anime fan...) Sometimes reality could be an ugly thing, that's why some Japanese decided to marry to anime characters instead and the most recent one would be the guy who spent most of his time with his Nintendo DS game Love Plus for love and dating simulation. Though am shocked to hear it too but then the reality is that it is hard to find a girl know likes you for who you are...

J's Chimes: Accidental Exposure...

So you think you've saved all your Ecchi and Hentai data into a safe location? Or perhaps someone else spotted some hidden folders in your hard drive? Situations like these will leave you being interrogated or scolded indefinitely whatsoever. The worst would be absolute deletion of your data without appeal... Sometimes, anime stuff are unpredictable that certain scenes really attracts attention like Ladies Vs Butler to Seikon No Qwaser. However the case, it's the culture of Japan to have such so no doubt there would be misunderstandings when someone watches them accidentally.

J's Chimes: New Photos Uploaded

J's Chimes is way behind schedule for cosplay and anime conventions that are long past or upcoming. Thus had finally redo the photograph links on the right taskbar located after the sitemap. Added more photos and stuff for your viewing pleasure in case ya do miss any of those too. Currently there aren't any events happening in Singapore though so it's going to be a stagnant period from now to the next big thing...

J's Chimes: Design Exhaustions

Recently, anime character designs are seriously running out of originality and personality. Take for example the atittude and character for Louis in Zero No Tsukaima, Shana from Shakugan No Shana and Toradora's Taiga. Lots of mimics and similarities starts appearing even in this season's anime from K-On! to Sora No Woto. Whether its infringement and copyright no one will ever know as characters now closely resembles one another now. I guess you'd only have a limited 101 character designs format and thus creating a truly unique type of character in animes are truly difficult now...

J's Chimes: Hatsune Miku's Day

9 March is Hatsune Miku's Day! In case you still yet to know what she is or which anime she came from, it is a voice and music synthesizer program created by Yamaha. Hatsune Miku was the first vocaloid and has been a great hit ever since and thus more were made then... In any case, here's a live performance on that very day in Japan. And seriously it's so cool to see a projection like that of her on stage...

J's Chimes: Summer Wars

Launched on the 25 Feburary this year in Singapore, Summer Wars is an amazing and touching story that I've ever seen since The Girl Who Leap Through Time. It tells the story of a Math Wiz guy who was invited by a beautiful girl in school to her house for her grandmother's brithday party. Being the maintenance crew for the computer virtual simulated world of Oz, Kenji unknowingly crack the code for security access of Oz and a virus was unknowingly inplanted and wreak havoc in the network causing some serious trouble in reality. Now it's time for the family to save the world and fight aainst a virtual enemy unlike anything that they have ever seen before.

J's Chimes: Animes In Animes

So ya now know about anime parodies in anime in my previous post. So now what about animes appearing in animes? Similarly, sometimes it's so nostalgic to see old animes come back again no as in a new season anime, but thru another anime not even related to it anyhow. Here ya can see Code Geass's Eye of Absolute Obedience thru the eyes of the ever so famous guy nickname voyeur in Baka To Test To Shokanjuu. Such relives the past animes and at time make me wanna go watch it again. Well, ya can say this is also good advertisements for anime companies to promote their other produce and also something to laugh out loud at...

J's Chimes: Between Anime & Girls

It's seriously hard to find girls who love anime at my age too. It seems like anime appeals more towards the much younger generation girls whose birth dates are from 1987~ and above. Girls who are in middle or high school were exposed more to the anime culture and stuff as seen increasingly so in Singapore with more cosplay events, anime conventions and stuff. Even mangas like Bleach also caught some girls attention. However even if there girls who like anime, they are usually been already targeted by 'smart' people and become girlfriend and boyfriend... So we guys do not have the chance now... So how many 'anime' girls ya know of? I could bet with you that it will not be more than 5...

J's Chimes: Hentai And Anime

Nowadays Hentai is very easily associated with animes and no doubt about it, it really is... Some of the simple reasons are that there are more and more Hentai games being made into animes. Examples are Koihime Musou, ToHeart, School Days, etc. Other would be that in almost all anime you'd see, there would surely be at least 1 or more ecchi moments in it be it Bleach or even Naruto. Somehow such are pretty common and I wouldn't be surprise when my friends say that its Hentai when I talk about animes...

J's Chimes: Anime Parodies In Anime

It's been increasingly so these days... And some prominent ones in which you'd see much of anime parodies would be Hayate No Gotoku to the recent anime known as Baka To Test To Shokanjuu. A parody of the classic Evangelion has been seen on episode 8 and funny to boot. Hopefully more of such will appear to refresh our minds on older animes not watched for a long time...

J's Chimes: Anime End Themes

Previously wrote a post about anime opening themes and a list of my top 10 favourites. But then what about the anime ending themes? Serioulsy they are a couple which catches my attention and would view them till end which I normally wouldn't for other animes. So now here's my list of favourites in favor latest season animes (Of course not in order of ranking again):
1.) Fairy Tail 2nd Season
2.) Kimi Ni Todoke
3.) Durarara!!
4.) Slap Up Party Arad Senki
5.) Baka To Test To Shokanju
6.) Kampfer
7.) Blassreiter
8.) Clannad After Story
9.) Hatsukoi Limited
10.) Macross Frontier
Currently my favourite is still Fairy Tail's End Theme Tsuioku Merry Go Round. Dunno why but it fits my situation as of now... Go check the lyrics for a better understanding...

J's Chimes: Lonely Days...

Sometimes loneliness gets to you when anything about romance that you wish to have does not reach out to you at all... The truth is anime fans are sometimes lonely people. But we too are human and we do need someone to be with us in times of need and comfort. So that's some of the reason why we'd turn to anime for many reasons or another... Gaming would be the best choice but at times ya just don't even have the mood to do so... Hopefully this gloomy days would go away soon so that I may get on with life...

J's Chimes: Bleach Leech

It's been said that a comic artist name Nick Simmons copied the actions and characters from the Japanese anime Bleach into his own comic known as Incarnate. Fans of Bleach were outrage over it and demanded explanation over such infringement. Seriously if you really do read the comic, it's so similar to Bleach in many ways... the part where Ichigo fights the arrancar in Hueco Mundo. A comparison can be seem as above... seriously same...

J's Chimes: PS3 'Ring' of Death

Remember the time where the Xbox 360 is recalled because of the problem in regards to the ring of death? Well now the PS3 also suffers the same fate as its rival. It seems like a bug in its clock functionality has cause the older bulky models to affect connection to the Playstation Networks and thus errors seem to occur and will even permanently erased all data in the console.... Now that's a serious problem... Somehow or rather, the PS3 Slim isn't affected by it. Now Sony is trying to solve this issue and hopefully come out with a solution or else fans are gonna go mad. How would you like it if your data got erased where ya spent hours leveling up your characters in RPG games?
