J's Chimes: A Glico Crave

Ever since I saw the video on Youtube the Pocky Commercials, suddenly have a crave for these flavored sticks and thus bought a pile of them to munch while watching animes. And I must say they taste really great, especially since ya haven't eat it for a very long time since childhood days... Anyway, Glico does have other types of these edible sticks like PRETZ. My favs are the Ham and cheese sticks and the Pizza sticks which taste so much like the real stuff...


One of the major commercials that made me started pecking away on the sticks is this advertisement by Yui Aragaki doing her absolute dance moves in tune with the choco stick which acts like a wand or something... Kinda addictive to watch, especially with the song by Orange Range.


Another commercial with Pocky. Seriously nice and fresh. That's 1 think I like about Japanese commercials. They are so creative and brightens your day. If only commercials in Singapore are like that too...

Hmm... speaking of which, maybe I should go hunting for Japanese snacks from time to time then. Kinda fun and nice eating those... Time to go to Liang Court's Meidiya Supermarket for some options...

J's Chimes: Angel Beats Up To Charts

Despite having much criticism about the bad quality of the anime, mistakes, flow of the story and the main character being a similar copy of Suzumiya Haruhi, Angel Beats! still become a popular anime this season. As taken from the NewType Top 10 Anime Girls, Yuri is ranked first over taking Nagato and K-On! favourite Yui Hirasawa. Tachinana takes in 10th place who is the Tenshi in Angel Beats and Otonashi takes the 6th spot with Kyon in Suzumiya Haruhi still in first place. Well, Yuri does have similarities with Haruhi in many ways but still that doesn't stop her popularity ranking and the anime as well. If you had not done so as to watch Angel Beats, maybe you should catch a little as it gets better with the plot unfolding what this mystery is about...

J's Chimes: Top 10 Girls In Anime You'd Like As A Girlfriend

After much consideration and selections, have come up with my top 10 female characters in Anime that you'd very much will like her as your girlfriend. There are seriously lots of good ones out but have decided on the 10 best for all the animes I've watched up to now. And here are the 10 best that I've concluded for 25 years worth of animes (not according to ranking):


The best of the best that ranks high above every other female anime characters till date would be Belldandy from the anime Ah! Megami Sama. A Goddess descended from the heavens would made the perfect girlfriend you'd ever wished for in your entire life. The main protagonist Keichi is a lucky guy to have her as a girlfriend. Imagine all your needs are fulfilled with her Godly powers. What else do you want?


Our next better player would be Lala from the anime To Love Ru. Descended from another world known as Deviluke who are the rulers of the Galaxy, Princess Lala is not only the most beautiful women in the universe, but also a whiz in high tech gadgets that would probably entertain you in various ways like Rito. With looks too much to die for with a playful and innocent heart, who wouldn't want to be her girlfriend?


Feena Fam Ashlight from the anime Yoake Mae Yori Ruriiro Na Crescent Love takes one of the slot for the best girlfriend you'd ever wanted. From Kingdom of Sphere on the Moon, Feena is a beautiful and kind-hearted princess that bridge the friendly-relationship between Earth and the Moon. Well... I believe all guys would love a girlfriend who's pure and innocent and treats love as a wonderful feeling to have...


Contemplating with this a lot but finally had decided with Tamaki as the Top 10 best from the anime ToHeart. One of the best reason for such would be her loving character towards the person she loves. A big sister who takes care of the house and her friends is a definite appealing trait towards guys alike. Though she might reveal her claws like a wolf under sheep's clothing, a Tsundere type girl is kinda nice at times...


A lot of controversies going on with Kaede from the anime Shuffle! because of her Yandere characteristics when she was 'rejected' by the the male protagonist who loves Asa Shigure instead. Overall, I still believes that a girl who wakes you up everyday, cook breakfast for you, walk with you to school, stays with you, etc, etc and etc is about the most perfect girlfriend you'd ever wanted already... No questions asked. Just like what Stark in Ironman says: 'I give you world peace. What more do you want?!'


Charlotte Hazelrink from the anime Princess Lover makes another great girlfriend with her cheery nature and childish character that can melt the hearts of guys around. Who am I kidding? Everybody wants a partner to be happy and cheery to make your day! And a princess to boot, friends will be the envy of you to find such a beautiful girlfriend who loves hanging out with you...


Almost one of the best girlfriends you'd ever had, Haruka loves anime and such just like people like us... A perfect combination with similar hobbies will surely make this relationship everlasting. From the anime Nogizaka Haruka No Himitsu, Haruka is really a rather good choice because firstly she is darn rich and can fuel your otaku nature and buy more anime stuffs. Secondly, she is really beautiful and sweet and smart and lovely and etc etc... and thirdly, who the hell wouldn't want such a girlfriend?!


Yes. Sawako from the anime Kimi Ni Todoke is also in one of my top 10 lists. Ya indeed, the anime in the beginning shows that she's been avoided by her classmates because people believe that she is cursed, that however wasn't the case and she was actually a very beautiful person both at heart and her looks when she dressed up. With a pure and innocent heart, such relationships are the best as both parties will love each other more. Hmm... don't really know how to describe it but all I can say is that both parties will pursue in a more genuine love where they would grow and cherish each other. That's the kind of relationship I'd want and I wouldn't ask for more than that...


A definite like! Mio from the anime K-On! is one of the cutest kinda girlfriend anyone would want. Her cry baby behavior, innocent character makes you want to be protective of her and look out for her every time. Am pretty sure everyone would agree so... much so because she's definitely cute, irresistibly ctue, and even so more cute with her every little actions as seen in the anime.


Finally, Amamiya from the anime Tokimeki Memorial Only Love is also in the Top 10 list because firstly, she's the flower of the entire school. Secondly, she's smart and beautiful and have a nice character and attitude. Thirdly, she's from Tokimeki Memorial... The classic love simulation from the 1990s that brought about the birth of such a game genre that inspires game like Love Plus+. Love the classic heroine Shiori Fujisaki too and Amamiya is definitely the mirror image of her since they were produced from the same company known as Konami.

Still unconvinced with my selections? Try watching these animes and you'd probably think so too. There are plenty of other candidates and varies from different people with different perspectives of a wonderful girlfriend. So what's your pick too then?

J's Chimes: Snack With A Cosplay Twist

One of the weirdest commercials I've ever seen... Probably a commercial shown in Taiwan and such about a snack known as 'Guai Guai' (Normally referred to in mandarin as good boy or girl...) with a little cosplay twist. You are not a good boy or a good girl if you are not in a cosplay outfit, whether in school or facing your parents...


There are 2 versions of such being aired on television and the first was about a girl scolded by her Mum for her awkwardly abnormal dress code... Of course the twist is that the normal dress code in this world is vice versa and such... And her Mum is wearing a Hatsune Miku cosplay... Darn.. if that's your Mum in this getup, it sure sucks big time...


The second version is a boy attending his class in a not so normal school once again... With a teacher who thinks a school uniform is inappropriate in class... haha (And points her sword to him...) Seriously if such a world exists, I wanna go too! Doing something good and yet branded as a bad guy is seriously...umm... screwed...

J's Chimes: Anime Censorships

Recently there are a couple of animes that bares it all this season and that would pretty much includes popular ones like B Gata H Kei, Seikon No Qwaser, Aika Zero, Kiss x Kiss and Fight! Ipatsu Juuden Chan DVD special. Such has been hot topics in animes such as this but something that caught our attentions are those animes that censor such Woohoo! scenes with seemingly cute icons that it gets you wondering whether should it be censored there or not? With such we look into the anime titled Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou in this case. By the way, If you find this post inappropriate or offensive, please do not scroll down any further... In addition, my favourite scene is when the bloodthirsty and ferocious wolf fell asleep floating on water with a smiley face... so cute~


The very first censorship of Keina in episode 5 of this anime. Gets you wondering... sometimes censorship helps presenting the audience that ecchi scenes can be comedic at times which is often used in B Gata H Kei.


Hattori rises up from the underground onsen and tries to attack the main character with her blade... Of course once again, a cute icon appears on the sensitive spots known to men... This kinda mysteriousness kills...


Seems like a rival of Hattori has taken up her blade and begins a melee attack... Another scene of amazing censorship on Teruya on the most common places in anime.


Korone's Shimapan was also not spared from the insanity of censorship and was once again replace by a mysterious icon.

An uncensored version was also released but i doubt it has made it on youtube somehow... Well at least it beats the censored version a way of two. In any case, such Ecchi-ness are norms in theoretically all animes you see now and there's no escaping it. The fact that I do not really like much would be that people referred to such as Hentai most of the time. it is a part of culture in Japan but such are often presented by Japanese in a seemingly comedic way that at times you'd just laugh at it hardly without having lewd thoughts that people who don't know about anime much would think of. I guess it's all about acceptance and stuff and how one views about such things. In any case, such fan services are appealing to anime fans alike and that's how anime promotes itself.

J's Chimes: Danny Choo Network TV

Am pretty excited with the coming Danny Choo Network TV which will be aired from the 12th of June this year. However it is only limited to people living in Japan and also those who have cable televisions to watch it on Animax... Hmmm, sure hope someone uploads it on Youtube or record it in HD for many others to watch. Said to be 30 minutes long in Japane and an hour for Animax subscribers, this TV show will talk much about animes and stuff in which we all know much about. In any case, have owe it much to Danny Choo because he was the reason I'd start blogging too. To talk about our hobbies and such is a wonderful experience though there are people who dislikes our passion for such things. In any case, its the holidays for me now, so gonna start blogging many stuffs again...

J's Chimes: 3 More Hours Till Non-Stop Happiness

By the time you'd read this, am in the exam hall once again for my final exam paper... Can't say am happy as of yet as this paper is a killer. And then in about 3hrs and 15 minutes time, will be so very free that am gonna just play games till I bleed... And snapping photos all day long while traveling to various parts of Singapore that I've yet to go before. In any case after today, postings will resume since my scheduled postings are almost run dry after today. Will then be postings more up-to-date news then since there are plenty of stuff coming out in recent days...

Ever wonder about the evolution of anime? Then all the more you should know about the history of anime and how it has come about and also hitting into the US market. Seriously there's also much that I do not know and this video had much or less enlightened me of such.
