J's Chimes: The Winter Olympics

With the winter Olympics at hand, lots of parodies start coming out one at a time for the benefit of the public's enjoyment. Some game maker however, took this opportunity to make it into a game that its title does seemingly looks like Street Fighter and plays like Mortal Combat. Featuring all the famous skaters around the world, Figure Skater 2 is a game you might wanna check out if you're bored with your current high-tech games and have nothing else better to do...

J's Chimes: No Yuri

Sure enough you do see signs like 'No Smoking' or 'No Eating And Drinking' in the trains. Well someone got a little creative by creating a sign that reads 'Please Do It At Home, Please Refrain From Putting On Yuri-Play In The Train'. What's even more interesting is that he'd put anime characters in it too... Hmm... wonder how others will react if this is really put in trains in Singapore.

J's Chimes: New Look For Another Beginning

After 50,000 hits, J's Chimes can't stay stagnant anymore. Now we're going traditional as in a wood setting.... After various feedbacks, have decided to take out the music as it causes a lot of ruckus. Removed a couple of stuff too here and there for the main page as well. In any case it looks better than I'd thought. Hope this new revamp would give you a brand new outlook towards J's Chimes.

J's Chimes:Real Life Locations

Love the anime To Aru Majutsu No Index or To Aru Kagaku No Railgun? Well, the Academy City in which the plot was for these 2 animes really does exist. Err as in there really is such a place that looks like this in the city of Tama, Kanagawa. These photos are a comparison between the anime and the real photos of that city. Lol, it's totally the same except that anime company decided to add in a couple of stuff here and there.

J's Chimes: Magical Girl In Magical Akihabara

Also familiar stuff like the JR line, Cosplayers - Race Queen Girls, Maids, Yoko From Gurren Lagann, ...Schoolgirls, Cheerleader girls, Star Trek, I know what you did last summer, Shrine Maidens, Visual Kei, kanban Musume, Gintama, Animes - Dragon Ball, Digi Chara. A really fresh video by the Idol in America known as KIRSTEN DUNST.

J's Chimes: Your Computer Usage

Hmmm... So you have your own personal computer ya? So what are your uses for your computer then? Watching Animes? Playing Games? Work? Surf Net? Or simply for other entertainment wise? I usually use my computer for gaming, watching anime and surfing the internet... Gave up my console games because of the lag of time to play, especially during my final year of university this year. So what are your most common usage for your computer?

J's Chimes: Amazingly Real

With the launch of the new illusion game on the 19th Feb this year, there are mixed reactions towards the quality of the game. Though it's short as so to speak, it's backed up but the powerful and realistic movements and looks of the female characters. Of course the fact that you'd need a powerful computer to run well... What's more, with webcam interaction, 3D glasses enabled, widescreen mode and double mouse playability, this makes the game truly a level above the rest.

J's Chimes: Anime Openings

Every anime has it's own unique opening theme with its songs but only a couple few caught my attention as 1 of my top 10 list. The current season which I love would definitely be Kimi No Todoke with its stylist, simplicity and creative art for its opening.
My list of favs would be (Not in order of ranking):
1. Kimi No Todoke
2. Eden Of The East
3. Druaga No Tou - The Sword Of Uruk, The Aegis of Uruk
4. Macross Frontier
5. Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu
6. Speed Grapher
7. Welcome To The NHK!
8. World Destruction
9. Durarara!
10. Fairy Tail
Most of them are pretty current as I'd hear them plenty of times. These 10 animes are some of the ones that I'd watched the opening too with the anime instead of skipping it because they are just kinda addictive viewing them. So what's your favourite anime openings?

J's Chimes: Plummeting Sales for FFXIII

Yup, it's no longer a myth... sales for the new Final Fantasy XIII has dropped tremendously from the usual to a low price of 3980yen (That means something like becoming a platinum version cost of a game.) Seems like there are too many in excess and thus game stores have to sell them at low prices to shift their stock from the shelves. I wonder would it be the same for Singapore... I mean shop owners will definitely still sell at the usual price and await some unexpected people who don't know about this to purchase it and earn a lump sum out of cheap goods... well you may never know. Or perhaps it's different in other countries where the FF series are maybe more popular...

J's Chimes: Love Plus

Love Plus, the Love dating simulation game by Konami has become a popular hit ever since its launch in Japan... Works just like a tamagouchi back in the days, this time you'd have to interact with a virtual girl instead and satisfying her needs for example a date or so etc. Here's a clip of what it actually is and how 3 people got carried away with the characters in the game. Hmm, would sure like to try it too... seems pretty amusing...

You wait and wait and wait for Chinese New Year to come, and then it's over! Things are gonna get busy now and then but will still continue to post whenever possible. Hopefully the lectures aren't so bad these days...

J's Chimes: Real Girlfriend

19 Feb is the official launch for the new illusion company game titled 'Real Kanojo'. A game that is so highly anticipated by fans alike and even more worth waiting for because of its stunning graphics and life-like movements that will make your jaw drop. However because of that, the i7 processor is required if ya want to play a smooth and realistic game. Explanation doesn't work now, why not watch this video and then judge it yourself...

J's Chimes: Chinese New Year

It comes so quickly and it goes even quicker. And now is the second day of the Chinese New Year. Haven't been posting on time because of the many events and stuff to do during this period of time. Chinese New Year also means the Ang Baos too as now I have at least a bit of money to spend on anime stuff at places like China Square Central or on console games. Though it may be a bit sad that it's gonna be over soon, something that many have been waiting for will be coming on the 19 Feb. More about it in my next post...

J's Chimes: Ronery Valentine New Year

Another ronery day for all singles out there who aren't able to get a date today... And the usual sights and sounds will then follow for example an all males group outing for a lan gaming or dinner session, buy cake and celebrate at home at one lonely corner, watching animes or playing love simulation games like ToHeart or Tokimeki Memorial, getting jealous at couples holding hands and eating out at restaurants with bouquets or chocolates at hand, etc... Sigh... However Valentine's Day do crash with the Chinese New Year so it acts as an excuse and something to help us lighten up our sad spirits... Happy Chinese New Year and a sad sad Valentine's Day...

Saturday 13 February 2010

J's Chimes: Happy Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is just a day away and many would be preparing for the coming festival, but somehow or rather it coincides with the dreaded Valentine's Day which are probably hated by all singles out there. Picture taken from thebanzaieffect.com, Miku has a little lecture on what the Chinese New Year is about... Somehow. In any case, J's Chimes wishes all a Happy and prosperous Chinese New Year!

J's Chimes: The 'Final' Fantasy?

After watching tons of preview for the new Final Fantasy 13, anyone will fall in love with it as it just looks so stunning and nice. However it is even more shocking to believe that sales for the Final Fantasy series has dropped tremendously to 1980 yen (SGD$31~) in Japan. Store are seen unable to shift their stock for that game and have been selling them at low prices. It is not known if the statistics are the same for the US and UK region launch for Final Fantasy but doubt would be the same as gamers have different preferences. There are plenty of really good games this year like Modern Warfare and L4D2 and such so many people were playing those instead resulting in a much lesser appeal to RPG games. More info here.

J's Chimes: Anime Food

Sometimes the food that animes show tempts us to it and of course the obvious ones are Pizza Hut which appears in animes like To Aru Kagaru No Railgun and Code Geass. Then suddenly all anime fans went to eat in that restaurant... lol. Other food products include Ramune in Lamune anime, Taiyaki from To Love-Ru, Okonomiyaki from Ranma 1/2, Pocky from Onegai Sensei, Melon Bun from Shakugan No Shana and other products like Calpis to Lollipops. Seriously some of these animes also intoduces Japanese foodstuffs to people like us to go try it out regardless. Sometimes it also feels nostalgic to see those around...

J's Chimes: Adding You, Adding Me

Received a lot of invitations in MSN and such this year nostly from people like you and I who love anime too... (From my blog perhaps?) Although am delighted, but am exercising caution to prevent spams and unwanted networking from adding into my list. If you're interested in becoming friends, please drop me an email so that I may add you personally instead. Hopefully this addresses the problem...

Saturday 6 February 2010

J's Chimes: Aika Zero

The lots of boobs and panties anime is back again in the new season with Aika Zero. Seriously, there are plenty of ecchi animes this season and one would wonder why it is so... Such are Seikon No Qwaser, Ladies Vs Bulters, Chu Bra! and Omamori Himari. Perhaps to perk up guys to begin the New Year? In any case, Aika Zero delivers much of fan services to people to ogle on and as appetizers to look forward to more animes coming in the future...

J's Chimes: Bad Apple Touhou

Thought that I'd hijacked this post from Dannychoo.com because this is seriously amazing. With hits so great that people went crazy over it for weeks. One of the smoothest piece of animated I'd ever seen and this is the high quality video of it. Made from the 2D fighting game Touhou, the video looks kinda 3D no matter how you see it.

A viral video of this animation was made by another person using 6566 frames of paper with a bit of twist. Well seriously ya got to see it to believe it. Wonder how much time is spent to make this and I guess he got a lot of time to do this...

The video was even featured in CNN television... this shows really how fantastic it is...

Thursday 4 February 2010

J's Chimes: Macross Frontier Seiyuu

Watched Macross Frontier? Do you know then that the female characters of this anime is highly likely that they are drawn to look like Japanese Idols Megumi Nakajima and May'n? Well the fact that the songs sung by Ranka Lee and Sheryl Nome are indeed them respectively but there's much of a coincidence here. It is no wonder why there are so many Macross Frontier tracks sung by them both and most probably in order to tribute them, the team must have drawn them with distinct and alike features of the characters. Look at Megumi Nakajima's Music Video for the song Seikan Hikou and you'd find out that the dance moves are the same as what Ranka Lee dances... Same to Sherly Nome and May'n stage performances...lol.

Wednesday 3 February 2010

J's Chimes: Sora No Woto

A new anime release that reminds me so much of K-On! would be Sora No Woto or translated as Sound Of The Skies. The reason being that the characters look so much alike. For example, Yui looks so much like hte main character Sorami. Rio who looks like Mio... (Even sounds the same...), etc... The only different character is Noel but then again she sounds like Yuki Nagato from Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu... Somehow animes are getting more and more similar nowadays... Find out more about this anime here.

J's Chimes: Anime T-Shirt

Designing My Own T-Shirt For The Upcoming Chinese New Year. Can't Freaking Buy Anything I Like So I Thought To Myself.... Would It Be Nice To Design A T-Shirt Myself? And So That's How It All Began... Coincidentally Love 'Fairy Tail' So Why Not? Hopefully the complete version of it will be up soon. Needs a couple of trial and testing when I printed it onto a T-Shirt.

J's Chimes: Cobra The Animation

Cobra The Animation is a long time classic anime about space and pirates written by Buichi Terasawa. It came out as a manga from the late 1970s and then becomes an anime in 1982 before even I was born... An now a new life is given to it once again this season with its new storyline and adventure. At first I was reluctant to watch it because of its artwork but after a few episodes, it got me hookd on just like what Detroit Metal City did to me too. Classics are nice every once in a while and this certainly is one that's worth watching. More info here.
